DUPLICITY: Alessandro Cavallo
Alessandro Cavallo, one of the actors for the film Duplicity, shares with us his thoughts and experiences while working on this film.
1. Why do you think duplicity is a story that needs to be told?
Duplicity is a story that needs to be told because of the way its enthusiastic writing gives life to a telenovela kind of fun that merges with the drama created between the lives of two Mexican sisters cohabiting in New York City. The uniqueness the story carries through details makes this short film stand out in many ways. The choice of colors and the cultural backgrounds are visually pleasing and the comedic side of the dialogues gives a sense of humorous seriousness that drives the plot towards facts by making the whole project solid and meant to be seen. Thanks to its technical and professional support the film has the ability to deliver the vibe that was intended since the beginning. There’s definitely something special and new about Duplicity that anyone can appreciate and carry in their memory.
2. What were the challenges that you faced when creating this project?
Handling the small space was a big challenge that we all faced for sure. Organizing such a small room full of equipment while shooting and recording sound would have been much more complicated if the crew wasn’t so careful, professional and supportive about it.
3. What was your favorite moment in the process of creating this project?
One of my favorite moment was when we all took a break from the work to eat pizza and get to know each other better. I realized how much of a team we actually had been and it made me smile, gave me peace and reminded me that you can truly find someone that also cares about something just as much as you do. Another favorite moment I remember was when we had to make the camera fit inside a carton cup, that had a hole in it, for the interrogatory scene.
4.What are the different things you learned after having done this project?
I have learned how I can help in a field that isn’t necessarily mine and how working in harmony as a team matters to reach results that are even higher than the expectations. I have had the luck to experience what it means to see everyone wanting to be part and proud of a beautiful project. I have seen a group that is humble and that puts their heart in the work before their ego. I have also got the chance to work with professional sound and lighting for the first time and I realized what a subtle but essential difference that can make.
5. What's your favorite scene from the script?
One favorite scenes from the script is the ending scene because it has the biggest revelation of the plot and it’s unexpected. Another scene I really enjoy is when Renata tricks her sister Sandra with a spicy prank. Honestly many scenes are very well built thanks to the great transitions between shots.
6. Is there any other project that you are currently working on?
We are working on bringing to life a few other projects by the same writer of Duplicity. I hope that happens very soon because I’m excited to give my best and all for the people that work with me who happens to be some of the people I love.
